Some of you may have noticed a change in our website and name, Transition Photography. After much thought and consideration I am excited to announce I have decided to change the company name to Krista Mason Photography. You will notice our name change soon on all of our mailings, packaging, invoices and promotional materials. You ask why the name change, and it comes down to marketing and first impressions. After attending a seminar with Jerry Ghionis, my mentor and favorite photographer, it was advised that Transition Photography might have some negative or confusing connotations attached to the name. After conferring with a marketing expert and realizing this may be the case I decided Krista Mason Photography had a better sound and read to it at first glance. As always, we will continue to serve you with the same devotion and quality, which you have come to expect. Please bear with us as we are switching from Transition Photography to Krista Mason Photography. We expect to be in full swing as Krista Mason Photography by the end of February. This past weekend I had the delightful pleasure of meeting baby Logan. Little Logan was born on Christmas Eve. After a rough start on life baby Logan is doing great and we had a wonderful session. Well, that is after we got baby Logan to sleep. I also found an amazing new talent in Aldo as a baby whisperer, who woulda thought, lol. We had a splendid time with precious baby Logan and family and are looking forward to seeing you again in 3 months. Enjoy!

This past weekend I photographed the Wikin family as a pre-portrait session to Matt’s Bar Mitzvah. The theme for the Bar Mitzvah is earth/nature so we decided Coldwater Canyon Park would be perfect. The Witkin’s are a fun loving family as you can see from the images. We had a blast and it was great to see how they interact as a family and catch it on camera. You can really feel the love and energy they have and I am happy to be able to capture it for them. Hope you guys enjoyed the session and I am looking forward to photographing you all again later this month.

Aldo and I had the fun experience of being photographed instead of being the photographer this time around. We decided for our Holiday session to go 40’s themed with props and all. It was really fun. One of my best friends Natalie aka Noodles helped us out and took the pictures for us. It was kinda funny and interesting trying to pose myself in the same manner I tell my clients, lol. Trying to be the photographer and subject at the same time was very amusing. Nonetheless we had a great time and I love the photos. Thanks so much Noodles.

Johanna and Jason opted to have their engagement session in Hermosa Beach, specifically 2^nd street. They are high school sweethearts and 2^nd street is where they had their first kiss and from then on continued to have many dates. I thought that was so sweet and had to incorporate 2nd street into their engagement session. Jason is in the Navy while Johanna still lives here, so they don’t get to see eachother very often. After 2^nd street we headed to Hermosa Peir where they have many little shops and bars. As a special treat Johanna and Jason often go out for yogurt or ice cream and there just happened to be a Coldstones along the shops. Luckily Coldstones is one of the places they visit together often and as you can see we got a wonderful shot of the two of them there. I had a great time with Johanna and Jason and we got some stunning images. I can’t wait till the wedding. See you guys soon.

We photographed the Griffins last session for the year at Mentryville. We had planned to photograph at a tree lot where you can cut down your own tree, but we were four days too early and the tree lot was not open. We made a quick decision and decided to photograph at Mentryville. It worked out perfectly, the open fields complemented the winter outfits and the photos came out fantastic. I can’t wait for the Griffins to see the final album with all four sessions of the year.

We had the chance to photograph baby Liam again with mom and dad for their holiday portrait. He is growing up so fast. They decided to photograph in downtown Pasadena, but Liam had a different idea. He just wanted to run around and play with us, but then what would the fun of a two year old be if he didn’t want to play. So we decided to head to city hall so he could run around and we could get some fun playful shots. Run around he did, mom and dad keeping up was another story, lol. We had a wonderful time and got some fun shots.

Our Lady Of Lourdes | La Canada Flintridge Country Club

Sara & Ryan were married this past weekend at Our Lady Of Lourdes with their reception to follow at La Canada Flintridge Country Club. We started off at the couple’s home with Sara and her girls who were a riot and then headed off to photograph the boys. As you can see the boys are wearing kilts (thankfully, the questions still remains if they were wearing anything under those kilts, lol). The wedding was Irish themed with bagpipes at the wedding and reception as well as Irish Dancers at the reception. Everything looked amazing and Sara and Ryan were chill and relaxed all day. We got some awesome shots with the stunning backgrounds at La Canada Flintridge Country Club. Thanks for a fun filled day and we hoped you guys had just as much fun! Enjoy.

Today I photographed the Avila kids at Menntryville. They are so adorable and well behaved. Samantha doesn’t exactly love to have her photo taken, at least not yet. However, Matthew loves to pose, as you can see, lol. In fact his mom told me the first thing he said this morning when he woke up was “mommy, it’s Krista day!” I thought that was the cutest thing ever. Needless to say we had some fun and got some amazing images. Matthew was very helpful in picking out the spots where we should photograph. He is giving me a run for my money, lol. I had the pleasure of photographing a pregnancy shoot for some very close friends, Jon & Diana. They are expecting a baby boy, much like the rest of our friends. So whoever is next better have a girl, lol. We had a great time and got some stunning images. Diana learned how to model and try and balance while being pregnant. Jon was hilarious as always, but also so supportive and helpful. They are going to be great parents and I can’t wait to meet baby Valdez. It is always fun photographing friends, in this case it was awesome because Diana was up for whatever. I tried some new creative shots and as you can see they came out gorgeous! Looking forward to photographing baby Valdez in January!

We had another wonderful session in Pasadena this past weekend with Sara and Ryan. Pasadena seems to be the spot to be this month, which is awesome because it is one of my favorite locations. Sara and Ryan were both great to work with, very easy going and chill. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding later this month. I photographed Shannon and her kids this weekend in Pasadena. Shannon loved a previous shoot we did there and decided to have her holiday session in Pasadena. I love shooting there with the old buildings creating lots of texture and wonderful backgrounds. We stuck to a few spots and got some wonderful family shots for Holiday cards and orders. Ventura

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Colleen and Connor on the same day. We had talked and scheduled their engagement session all via e-mail, lol. Needless to say we hit it off right away. Colleen and Conner are both very sweet and photographed very well. Colleen says she has never modeled before but based on the wonderful images and ease of taking directions I think she has (at least in another life, lol). We walked around Ventura and just chatted and had a great time (oh yeah and got some amazing images). Too bad Colleen and Connor are getting married and moving out of state and already found their photographer. We would have loved the opportunity to continue onto photographing the wedding. Out of State weddings can be so much fun. Enjoy your images guys and if you change your mind we would love to photograph the wedding, lol.

Knollwood Country Club

Molly and Valerie were married at Knollwood Country Club on October 10, 2009, well technically. Molly and Valerie had their event on 10/10/09 but were actually married previously when same sex marriage was legal. They had kept it secret from everyone (as you can see from the bridal parties expressions) and announced it during their ceremony. It was a very special and emotional moment they shared with everyone and I am glad I was part of it and able to capture family and friends reactions. It was a beautiful day for Molly and Val to be married and we had such a good time. The photo sessions were awesome and the bridal party was a riot. I had a blast with you guys and hope everyone else did as well. Congratulations Molly and Valerie.

This post is a little late, but as they say better late than never, lol. Last month Aldo had a wonderful opportunity to photograph some product shots for El Gran Jubileo a new brand of tequila in the United States. The brand has been booming in Mexico and they decided to launch it here in the States. As most of you know Aldo assists me with photoshoots, but he is a wonderful photographer himself. His passion is product/commercial photography and his work is amazing. With his help and stellar photography skills we are expanding to include a product/commercial side of Transition Photography. This past weekend I had the great pleasure of photographing Russ & Bobbie aka The Rubies. The Rubies are old roommates of one of my best friends Margaret. The wedding was in San Diego; the ceremony was held at Balboa Park and the Reception at Woman’s Club in Downtown San Diego. It was a beautiful day and the lighting was just perfect. The Rubies are so easy to photograph and we all had a great time and got some stunning images. We started the day with Bobbie and the girls at the Hilton Bay Front, which is an amazing location with lots of great spots to photograph. Both sides of the family as well as the bridal party were easy going and fun to work with. The whole day went smoothly and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks guys for a fun time! I was so excited to photograph Alivia as soon as Nancy told me she was pregnant. Alivia is the most peaceful, quiet newborn except when you want to photograph her (she must get that from Joe, lol). After a few times of trying to get poor Alivia to relax and fall deep into sleep we succeeded and had a marvelous newborn session. We had a few oops moments and Nancy and Joe had a huge load of laundry to do after we left, but it was all worth it. Hope you guys are getting a little bit more sleep these days. Look how cute and precious she is and that laugh is so amazing. Can’t wait to photograph her at 3 months. Enjoy!

I meet Rachel at the Hyatt Bridal show back in August and we hit it off right away, so much that Rachel called and finalized everything the next day! We then scheduled Rachel and Mark’s engagement session for Labor Day weekend. Rachel mentioned that her and Mark often go to Ventura on “date nights”. So I decided to scout out some locations in Ventura and I found some amazing spots. The train tracks are now one of my fav spots and I can’t wait to photograph there again! We also walked around downtown and then headed down to the beach to wrap up the last shots. We also photographed Mark with his car aka “the other woman” according to Rachel, lol. Rachel is so cute and has this smirky flirtatious look, which I love and Mark is so chill and somehow knows where to stand before I even tell him. I had a blast with Rachel and Mark and can’t wait for their wedding. After the shoot we headed to Aloha Steakhouse and had a fabulous dinner and the service there was amazing. The Griffins had their third session of the year in Pasadena for a more modern urban look. They all were a bit tired from a rough night of partying the night before in celebration of Carolyn’s birthday (happy belated birthday). But as always we still got some stunning images. They are all so photogenic and the kids are very cooperative, for the most part, lol. I always enjoy photographing the Griffins and am thrilled at how wonderful the images always come out!

We started the day with Brooke and her girls at Nick and Brooke’s home. Although we were a little behind we got some amazing shots with Brooke getting ready. She even did a few fun classy boudoir shots before we headed to the church. Brook and Nick got married at Lady of Guadalupe in La Habra, a beautiful church with thousands of wonderful spots to get creative. I could have spent all day there, but unfortunately they had mass right after and we weren’t able to get back inside. Good thing we got a few before the ceremony started. Brooke and Nick allowed plenty of time (2 hours) in between ceremony and reception to allow for photography, thanks guys. The bridal party was awesome, so cooperative, easy going and fun. I had a great time photographing with everyone. Brooke and Nick were chill and up for anything we asked, which always makes photographing easier. We got some really stunning shots and had a fantastic time. The reception was held at South Hills Country Club in West Covina, another great location. The site was very elegant and the red details added an attractive touch. The party was kicking and the DJ was amazing. We had a terrific time with Brooke and Nick and the wedding was marvelous.

Cindy and Andrew got married at Pacific Palms Resort a beautiful location in the City of Industry. From the outside it looks like an office building, but once you walk in the lobby it is gorgeous and the ceremony site and golf course have amazing views. Both the indoor and outdoor locations have wonderful spots to photograph and some fun hidden ones that we took advantage of. Cindy and Andrew had a nice short ceremony and the release of the doves added a wonderful touch. They opted for no bridal party, which allowed much more time for family shots and romantics. We had a fun time and got some wonderful shots.

Descanso Gardens

What a wonderful day for this couple. Jackie and Sergio celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary at Descanso Gardens. It is amazing the love and affection they still have for each other. I can only hope to still be that in love after 25 years. Sergio can’t keep his hands off of Jackie, it is so cute. Reminds me of Aldo and I, lol. I love photographing them both, they are so at ease in front of the camera. Their families were just as fun. We had a wonderful time with the photographs and Camille has the fake laugh down to a T. Thanks Camille, lol. J Jackie and Sergio had a wonderful ceremony and their talented children sang and played guitar as they walked down the aisle. It was truly amazing. The reception was just as nice and everyone danced the night away and had a wonderful time. Jackie and Sergio thank you for letting us be a part of your beautiful day!

This month was crazy but fun with the two Bridal Shows. The first was at Los Angeles Convention Center and this past weekend was at the Hyatt in Valencia. We have been doing the Los Angeles show for years now and we usually get a pretty good turn out from the brides. This year we decided to try a new show with Bellisima Brides. The Bellisima show was this past weekend and we had a great time and got to chat with many fun and entertaining brides. It is a great opportunity for us to meet with new brides and connect with other wedding vendors.

I love our display which was custom built by Aldo. The design concept was months of planning with help from Jen (Nunnbetter Design) and Nancy (Valencia Design Group). After months of planning and Aldo building the display we finally got the final booth set and done. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Although this isn’t the first time we used the display it is the first time I have had a chance to blog about it and just wanted to thank everyone involved with the process and share some images.

Thanks to all the brides who stopped by to talk with us. I look forward to meeting with you again!

I also wanted to thank Margaret, Michelle and Domenica for helping me work the show and chatting with the brides. You guys were awesome and such amazing friends. I met Jannet & Eric for the first time at their engagement session this past weekend. They were naturals in front of the camera right from the first click. It was amazing. They were so comfortable and easy going with eachother and the camera loved them. We walked around Pasadena and just stopped along the way in front of stores and whatever else we felt like. We photographed the Griffin’s second session of the year at Ventura Beach. They just got their dog, Einstein, earlier that week and wanted to include him in the session. Since Ventura Beach allows dogs it was a no brainer. Unfortunately, it was super windy and cold. Everyone was freezing and shaking, including the poor puppy. Aside from weather conditions the session went well and the kids were super excited to show off Einstein. See you guys for session number three in August.

Lisa & Jerry’s wedding was held at the California Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey. A gorgeous location with the yachts and marina making a stunning backdrop. And what a beautiful day it was. The ceremony was held at 6:00 just the perfect time in June to avoid the harsh sunlight. Lisa & Jerry looked awesome as you can see below. ;-) They were so cute and so fun. With the help of Sharon, their wedding coordinator the day went without a hitch. Once again the couple left an hour and a half for photos in between ceremony and reception. This always allows us to relax and get some great creative shots with the couple. I am starting to see a trend and loving it! It was so fun photographing the second part of Nancy and Joes pregnancy shoot. They are such a fun couple. Even more fun was the dinner we had here at Chateau Kristaldo; where portion sizes are bigger than claim jumper, lol. We had a great time and I hope Joe and Nancy did as well. The photos came out amazing and we had good company, what more could you ask for. We went a little more risqué on the session this time around, which worked awesome for Nancy and her cute little bump! Joe was much more nervous than Nancy about the attire or lack there of, but in the end I think they enjoyed the photos. Hope to see you guys soon!

I am happy to announce that one of my favorite couples Nancy and Joe are expecting a baby girl. And now I am super excited to post the images from their pregnancy shoot on the beach. The photos came out amazing and were well worth enduring the freezing windy beach. I hope Nancy feels the same, lol. To thaw out Joe treated us to Zeppy’s pizza in Hermosa Beach (which he owns). Thanks Joe! The Pizza was awesome. We had the BBQ Chicken, which was great, and he surprised us with a new pizza he plans on adding to the menu soon. That was my fav! I can’t remember what it’s called, but I think it was the White Pizza. yummmmm so good. If you guys are in Hermosa be sure to stop by Zeppy’s (36 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach) and get a yummy slice of pizza. Nancy and Joe are coming in for an in-studio shoot this weekend and I can’t wait to photograph them again. Even more I can’t wait till baby girl is born.

Kelly, her husband and six kids were one of the easiest portrait sessions I have done with kids. The Kaeding kids are so well behaved and did an awesome job posing and cooperating, which allowed us to get a variety of images and have a nice relaxed session. YAY! Mom and kids are moving to their hometown and Dad is being transferred out of the country for work, so Kelly thought it would be a great opportunity for a family portrait. I am so glad I got to meet the Kaedings and capture their time here in So. Cal on the beach. Hope you guys have a safe move and be sure to keep in touch.

Ula and Brian were married at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and their reception was held at beautiful Descanso Gardens. We started with Ula at Langham Hotel in Pasadena, another gorgeous location. Ula and Brian looked amazing and were totally into their photos. Ula allowed two hours in-between the ceremony and reception for photos. I love when this happens; it allows so much more time for variety and creativity of photos. The church was great, lots of windows and skylights for natural light and Descanso gardens was beautiful and the staff was so attentive to the couple. All in all the day and couple were beautiful and the photos came out amazing! Great job Ula & Brian.

What a fun session this was. I had a great opportunity to do a photoshot with Faire Frou Frou, a lingerie boutique in Studio City. I was able to get a few friends to model the lingerie. A big thank you to Krystene, Roxie & Tracy for modeling and to Margaret (aka Blondie) for doing everyone’s hair and make-up. The session was a blast. Some of the models were a little nervous at first but then everyone relaxed and the shoot went smoothly. Faire Frou Frou was so gracious in letting us use their beautiful boutique, thanks gals. Inland Hills Church | Glendora Woman’s Club

Kristin & Nick were married at Inland Hills Church and held their reception at Glendora Woman’s Club. They both live in Texas but decided to hold the wedding in Chino where Kristin’s family is from. Kristin was referred by another one of our brides and booked us over the phone after her mom came to view our work. I met Nick and Kristin for the first time at the wedding and we hit it off right away. Nick and his guys were a riot with their “coffee cups” and Kristin was not shy at all. We even got some boudoir shots in before she got dressed. Sorry guys not showing those. They had a beautiful ceremony in the unique Inland Hills Church and a great reception at Glendora Woman’s Club. Wayfarers Chapel | Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club

The day started out great photographing the groom and his guys at Portofino Hotel, then we headed to the Wayfarers to photograph the bride and ceremony. Since we only get two hours at Wayfarers we were pinched for time and ended up only getting a few shots of the couple at Wayfarers. That didn’t stop us cause we got some amazing shots near the lighthouse where we stopped before heading to the reception at Portofino. Good planning on Celina’s part to leave 2 hours to photograph in between the ceremony and reception. The shots that we were able to get were magnificent! The reception was held at Portofino where Gary was dancing the night away (even with his bad knee, lol). We had a great time. Transition Photography is looking for this year's juniors to apply for the Class of 2010 Senior Ambassador Program! Spring semester is a great time to start taking senior portraits. We want to ensure you and your friends get the best professional photography for your senior portraits. We are looking for the most outgoing students on campus to work with us. It'll be lots of fun, and you will get some incredible portraits in the end.

Who: Los Angeles, South Bay, and Valley area high school seniors graduating in 2010 are eligible for this fantastic offer. We are looking for seniors graduating in 2010 that will represent and refer Transition Photography to their friends and family. If you think you have what it takes, email Krista at krista@transitionphoto.com and I will send you a short application. Sign up quickly as I’ll only be accepting two seniors from each school and these openings will go fast.

I had a great time photographing Ula & Brian last weekend at Verdugo Park. It was awesome, they were up for anything.
