Some of you may have noticed a change in our website and name, Transition Photography. After much thought and consideration I am excited to announce I have decided to change the company name to Krista Mason Photography. You will notice our name change soon on all of our mailings, packaging, invoices and promotional materials. You ask why the name change, and it comes down to marketing and first impressions. After attending a seminar with Jerry Ghionis, my mentor and favorite photographer, it was advised that Transition Photography might have some negative or confusing connotations attached to the name. After conferring with a marketing expert and realizing this may be the case I decided Krista Mason Photography had a better sound and read to it at first glance. As always, we will continue to serve you with the same devotion and quality, which you have come to expect. Please bear with us as we are switching from Transition Photography to Krista Mason Photography. We expect to be in full swing as Krista Mason Photography by the end of February. I had the pleasure of meeting with Felice Keller last week and I just love the idea of what she does and had to share. Felice Keller Productions writes personal songs with the help of hit songwriters for your special moments in life. Weather its your wedding, birthday, engagement, anniversary, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, baby, company or tribute she can customize a song that is personal to you. I thought this was the coolest thing ever and what better way to personalize something than have a one of a kind song to cherish for a lifetime. For our brides out there this is perfect for you first dance. Felice actually found herself promoting this idea after her own wedding. She just couldn’t find that perfect song for her to walk down the isle to and thought why not create my own. So with the help of songwriters she made the perfect song for her and her soon to be husband. How awesome is that! {bridal show | news}

This month was crazy but fun with the two Bridal Shows. The first was at Los Angeles Convention Center and this past weekend was at the Hyatt in Valencia. We have been doing the Los Angeles show for years now and we usually get a pretty good turn out from the brides. This year we decided to try a new show with Bellisima Brides. The Bellisima show was this past weekend and we had a great time and got to chat with many fun and entertaining brides. It is a great opportunity for us to meet with new brides and connect with other wedding vendors.

I love our display which was custom built by Aldo. The design concept was months of planning with help from Jen (Nunnbetter Design) and Nancy (Valencia Design Group). After months of planning and Aldo building the display we finally got the final booth set and done. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Although this isn’t the first time we used the display it is the first time I have had a chance to blog about it and just wanted to thank everyone involved with the process and share some images.

Thanks to all the brides who stopped by to talk with us. I look forward to meeting with you again!

I also wanted to thank Margaret, Michelle and Domenica for helping me work the show and chatting with the brides. You guys were awesome and such amazing friends. Also, thanks to Adam, Chris and Julio for helping pack-up the display. Thank you all for your help and support! Most of all I want to thank Aldo the biggest supporter and helper I have. Transition Photography is looking for this year's juniors to apply for the Class of 2010 Senior Ambassador Program! Spring semester is a great time to start taking senior portraits. We want to ensure you and your friends get the best professional photography for your senior portraits. We are looking for the most outgoing students on campus to work with us. It'll be lots of fun, and you will get some incredible portraits in the end.

Who: Los Angeles, South Bay, and Valley area high school seniors graduating in 2010 are eligible for this fantastic offer. We are looking for seniors graduating in 2010 that will represent and refer Transition Photography to their friends and family. If you think you have what it takes, email Krista at krista@transitionphoto.com and I will send you a short application. Sign up quickly as I’ll only be accepting two seniors from each school and these openings will go fast.

It has finally arrived, whooo hooo! Our new website is up and running (www.transitionphoto.com), well mostly, we still need to get the albums up, but other than that all is a go. I am so excited and thankful to Mark, who did the design publishing and Jen who did the design. Thank you both so much, it looks awesome!

{jerry ghionis workshop}

This past week I had the privilege of attending one of the most inspiring and educational workshops I have ever been to with Jerry Ghionis. Jerry Ghionis is a Multi Award winning master photographer and he has won the last 6 out of 7 wedding album of the year awards. I have been following his work for the past couple of years and was thrilled when I got one of the last few spots available for his LA workshop. Jerry has been the inspiration behind many of my images, and I was so excited I was going to have 5 full days to learn and see the master at work. I have to say I learned so much more than I had bargained for. Jerry didn’t hold back, he showed us everything step by step from what inspires him, to how he gets such amazing images, even how he works with his clients from the moment he meets them to the final album review. Thanks Jerry for an awesome and inspirational week, you are an amazing photographer and a wonderful guy. The energy that you have and produce along with your stunning images made it a week to remember and I was able to absorb and learn so much. I can’t wait to take it out onto the field and put everything I learned into practice with my clients. I also wanted to thank our models (Roberto & Kim, Melissa & Rene, Suzie & Rene) Sally his assistant and his wife Georgina!

It was also great to be able to network with all the other photographers, some from LA and some from around the world. Can’t wait to hear how everyone is doing!

Here is the first assignment we had (finding the right light). We had 10 mins with the couple and it was so nerve-racking cause you were going to have one of the top 10 photographers critiquing your image. In all the years I had been photographing I had never been so nervous, lol.

{wppi 2009}

WPPI 2009 is finally here (feb 14-19) and like every year it's held in vegas. I am so excited. WPPI is short for Wedding & Portrait Photographers International. It is a convention for all wedding and portrait photographers to go and learn and be inspired. I love going every year, not only cause it's vegas (and lets be honest who doesn't love vegas) but because I always get extremely inspired and gain so much knowledge from the other amazing photographers in the industry. It pushes me to try new things and be more creative.

Last year was incredible, Jerry Ghionis , was so amazing. I can't wait for this years panel of experts. One day I'd love to be one of the photographers on the panel.
